Foamhenge, Virginia

Foamhenge is a full-size replica of Stonehenge made entirely out of styrofoam in Natural Bridge, Virginia.

The structure was created by Mark Cline of Enchanted Castle Studio in 2004, with the pieces in astronomically correct positions.

It has become a tourist attraction but still relatively lesser known.

There are no signs or welcome center, instead, there is a gate which might be locked after hours. Once you cross the gate it will be a short walk up the hill before you notice these columns of foam rising up to the sky. While there don't miss out the signs posted, especially the one warning you against defacing the sculpture.

As of now the foam structure has deteriorated to the point where some "stones" show cracks and are held in place with wooden supports.

On a sad note, according to Enchanted Castle Studios, they have until August 01, 2016 to remove Foamhenge as the area is becoming a state park.
